Happy International Women’s Day!

This isn’t Valentine’s Day and it’s not Mother’s Day. International Women’s Day is an opportunity to think about how our society relates to women in terms of rights and equality.

Consider this popular brainteaser:

“A man and his son are in a car accident. The man dies on the scene, but the son is rushed to the hospital. When he gets there the doctor says ‘I can’t operate on this boy. He’s my son.’ How is this possible?”

The obvious answer is that the doctor is the boy’s mother, and as more and more women take on roles that were previously dominated by men, this riddle becomes less and less puzzling.

So let’s raise a glass to the women of the world and continue working to make our world a place where everyone has opportunity to succeed!
